2024 Year in Review
As 2024 comes to a close, we are so grateful for you and your support of Gathering Point Giving Circle and the work we do with our partners in the community. In 2024, we celebrated our 5th year of service and with this milestone, we are filled with gratitude for you all, as well as the women, children and families we have been able to bless. With your support this year, we have been able to:
St. Vincent’s Villa
• Provide birthday gifts and school supplies to 80 children.
• Enhance and support a thriving children’s garden.
• Provide holiday celebrations including the Easter Bunny and egg hunt, and Breakfast with Santa.
• Added umbrellas to the tables in the garden area as well as other outdoor spaces.
Helping Up Mission
• Provide Birthday gifts for 100 women, babies, and staff.
• Provide Monthly enrichment and service projects for the women.
• Support for the Gift In Kind donation center and boutique and the needs of the women
• Host the Annual Recovery Dinner with an evening of fellowship, food and music for the women, children and staff.
• Gift each graduate an inspiring bracelet and note of encouragement for completing the year-long recovery program.
• Partner with Kids Helping Kids for pediatric cancer research at Johns Hopkins Hospital by having the HUM ladies make bracelets for patients.
• Partner with Believe Big Mug Painting Program by having the HUM ladies paint mugs for cancer patients.
Student Support Network
• Provide 500 Blessing food and household bags for families in need at Owings Mills High School through Student Support Network
• Begin a new relationship with Woodlawn High School to provide Household Blessing Bags to their students in need.
• Sponsored 2 Owings Mills High School students to attend the Maryland Leadership Workshop, an immersive leadership development program, at Washington College in July.
As we look forward to all that is hopeful for 2025, we would be grateful if you would consider continuing your support of GPGC.
The census at Helping Up Mission Center for Women and Children continues to grow with more women bravely stepping into the addiction recovery program. Presently, there are 85 women and 20 babies and more arriving each day. Our goal is to be a bright light for the women and the moms with their precious babies, proving they are valued, and that we believe in them by continuing to provide the support we do.
The needs of the students at Owings Mills High school and Woodlawn High School continue to grow and our goal is to continue to provide any student in need with essentials.
The 80 children who reside at St. Vincent’s Villa and those who will arrive in 2025 should be given the love and grace that every child deserves. We are fully committed to continuing to provide them with gifts, enriching activities and holiday celebrations.
We would love to share with you a few words from Edwin, one of the high school students who attended the Maryland Leadership Workshop:
“Dear Giving Circle members, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to participate in the Leadership program this summer. This was an experience I will take with me for the rest of my life and I really appreciate the opportunity…. I will be able to use this experience to help me in leadership positions in high school and take with me to college…. It was good seeing other people’s skills and I learned lessons that will help me create my own business someday.”
And a few words from one of the women at HUM who blessed us with a thank you card after the September Recovery dinner:
“We thank God greatly for the gift of you. Everything you have done, everything you continue to do. Thank you for the joy you have brought through our front door. Thanks to you this is no longer simply just a building, it is a home and so much more.”
You are a cherished part of our Circle. Your prayers, encouragement, time and treasure give us the support we need to continue to serve our partners, the women, children and families in need. Your generosity has made this all possible and with 100% of all donations going directly to our mission, we invite you to continue your support with a year-end contribution.
It is through the generosity and faith of people like you and our corporate sponsors, Merritt Companies and the Scripps Howard Fund that we can continue to serve and expand our reach in the community.
No gift is too big or too small and every dollar is stretched to meet our commitments.
It is through small gestures with open hands and hearts that we serve, and we would love to have you join us through volunteer service, donations, prayers and encouragement.
With Gratitude, Purpose, Grace and Compassion, we humbly thank you,
Lisa Rogers, Danielle Evensen, Blair Slaughter, Mary Carole Fortunato, Jennifer Ritchie, Michele Sawicki, Ursula Adourian, Robin Znamirowski, Julie Volker, & Amy Neubauer
